This is a horizontally mounted, multi-purpose electrochemical cell for Gas Diffusion Electrode (GDE), designed to be used with X-Ray Diffractometry. The cell consists of two individual compartments: the liquid flow chamber and the gas chamber, which are placed on opposing faces of a GDE. Both compartments are held in place by magnetic mount, providing a leakage-free O-Ring seal (a screw version is available on request). The liquid chamber can be filled with an electrolyte using a syringe or an electrolyte can continuously flow through it using an external reservoir and peristaltic pump (both not included). The dry chamber is gas-tight enabling continuous flow of a gas carrier and evacuation of the gas products for sampling using standard analytical instruments such as a residual gas analyzer. Both compartments are made of a polyether ether ketone (PEEK) material. It well fits aqueous (EPDM O-Rings) and organic solvent (FFKM O-Rings) electrolyte requirements. The cell is meant to be used with standard reference electrode having 6 mm in diameter and counter electrode in the form of a rod/helix with 6 mm in diameter and 15 mm active.

Related Applications:

GDE XRD Electrochemical Cell is used to effectively screen and validate GDEs for metal-air batteries, water electrolyzes, and alkaline fuel cells. It also enables in-situ X-Ray Diffraction acquisition. It is used as an air-breathing, thermodynamically referenced electroanalytical cell that allows to mimic the Janus arrangement of the GDE in a metal–air cell: one face freely exposed to gases, the other wetted by electrolyte.

Recommended Optional Items:

Reference Electrodes (Aqueous or Non-Aqueous)
Working Electrodes
Auxiliary (Counter) Electrodes
