Clinical Pathology Sample Processor
Perform diversified laboratory procedures and operations in the area assigned
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Perform simple laboratory tests, evaluations, and/or functions with minimal supervision
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment of varying complexity requiring a moderate degree of operations skill
- Ability to read and understand a study protocol
- Perform mathematical calculations involving simple algebraic relationships; operate a calculator
- Ability to recognize instrument malfunction and initiate troubleshooting procedures under the direction of the supervisor
- Maintain and organize all forms and supplies as required
- Perform functions as assigned by the Senior Manager Clinical Pathology
- Cross training in Analytical Chemistry Department; i.e. capsule prep, etc. as needed
- Participate in in-house training programs for the technical staff
- Maintain confidential information
- Interact with the community and employees
- Support and participate in other company initiatives as directed by management
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
A two or four year degree in a related science from an accredited college/university or high school diploma (or equivalent) with laboratory experience
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrate ability to perform varied technical assignments with limited supervision
- Complete knowledge of calculations necessary for making laboratory preparations
- Skill in handling a variety of laboratory tools and instruments
- Demonstrate self-starting ability to reliability in completing assignments
TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, & OTHER RESOURCES USED
- Various software applications sustained by a Windowsä platform. (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Laboratory instrumentation

- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Ability to read, write and understand oral and/or written instructions
Physical Activity
- Ability to read and understand applicable materials
- Bend and lift reagents, etc. up to 50 lb. to a height of 5 feet
- Manual dexterity to operate laboratory equipment and calculator/computer
- Work in a standing position for long periods
- Able to read and interpret animal identifications, test results and instrument and reagent specifications
Working Conditions
- Frequent involvement with radiant/electrical energy, solvents, grease, oil, irritants, acids, bases, and other hazardous chemicals, electro-mechanical hazards, flammable materials and bio-hazards.
- Mantoux TB test with negative result is required or a chest X-ray to confirm no active disease
- Able to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust mask and/or respirator, and safety glasses as required.
- May be exposed to animal dander and/or material associated with animal husbandry
- The noise level is usually moderate
