The Senior Scientist develops, documents, and validates bioanalytical methods. The successful candidate will be able to interpret data, troubleshoot methods, navigate current FDA expectations and provide guidance to clients.  The ability to use multiple software packages and instrumentation, manage projects and communicate effectively is expected.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Design and develop new bioanalytical methods based on a chemistry, general working knowledge of sample preparation procedures plus quantitative separation and detection technologies
• Develop and maintain records to comply with appropriate regulatory requirements
• Maintain communication with clients, scientific team members, and management
• Coordinate all aspects of assigned projects
• Complete sample analysis and method validations
• Troubleshoot existing analytical methods
• Review data associated with method investigations, development, and validation efforts
• Provide technical support during regulatory data inspections
• Conduct and document laboratory investigations
• Train laboratory personnel as needed
• Enter data into databases
• Follow SOPs and other applicable laboratory or company procedures
• Maintain confidential information
• Interact with the community and employees
• Support and participate in other company initiatives as directed by senior management
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:  

• B.S. in chemistry, with at least 5 years of direct laboratory experience, or
• M.S. in chemistry or related science with at least 3 year of direct laboratory experience, or 
• Equivalent combination of related education and required work experience will be considered with management approval. 
• LC-MS/MS experience strongly preferred

Skills & Abilities:

• Strong chemistry background
• Good organizational skills
• Displays versatility and accuracy performing laboratory operations, some of which may be difficult and/or non-routine
• Ability to use a computer with a variety of commercial and proprietary software
• An attitude for quality, an eye for detail, the ability to follow written instructions and work with a minimum of supervision
• Understanding of GMP/GLP/GCP regulations with the ability to apply these practices daily
• A working knowledge and awareness of general laboratory procedures
• Ability to work independently
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to adhere to all safety regulations and procedures
• Able to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust mask or respirator, and safety glasses as required
