Validation of an LC-MS/MS Method for the Determination of Tamiflu™ in Human Whole Blood Collected in the DBS Format

Abstract

Oseltamivir (Tamiflu™), in its active form as oseltamivir carboxylate, is an antiviral drug used in the treatment of influenza. BASi UK has already validated an assay for the determination of oseltamivir and oseltamivir carboxylate in human plasma samples, which has been used successfully to support clinical studies. However, it is recognised that validating this assay in the dried blood spot (DBS) format would offer many advantages over conventional plasma collection; including a reduced sample volume, ease of sample collection (specifically in paediatric studies) and simplified shipping and storage.
