Outlook for 2012

A Message from BASi President & CEO Tony Chilton

The New Year is with us and as I look forward to 2012, BASi has some exciting opportunities ahead for both aspects of our business. We will continue to build our existing business in Bioanalysis, Non-clinical and Pharmaceutical product services and work alongside our customers to help them successfully develop their new pharmaceutical products. We have a new Electrochemistry product that will be available in the next few months that should invigorate the business and market interest in BASi. 

As BASi responds to changes in the pharmaceutical industry, we will seek out new customers, creating and capitalizing on more global market exposure with stronger sales and marketing teams. We will progress key initiatives that will broaden the scope of our services and increase the opportunity to attract new type of customer and new science to our laboratories.

Our new discovery facility in West Lafayette is on schedule to receive studies in late January. Our unique expertise and application of Culex® experiments can help our customers identify promising new drug candidates earlier, saving both time and money. We are also partnering with XenoGesis Limited of Nottingham, UK. The alliance offers a strong synergy in combining our experience and capabilities in discovery bioanalysis and the consulting and in vitro programs offered by XenoGesis complement our in vivo Culex offerings.

BASi continues to expand its discovery, toxicology and bioanalytical services to support discovery and development of large molecules. Our customers are making significant investment in the development of large molecule products and we need to be able to provide our customers with the appropriate service and support. 

We have made a significant and important investment in our sales and marketing group. Our energetic, enthusiastic team will continue to raise customer awareness and capture more of the global market opportunities.

The pharmaceutical industry is expected to grow in 2012 and BASi is in a strong position to grow with it. In the New Year, we will continue to build on our solid reputation of being focused on our customers and responsive to their needs. We continue to be conscious of the role we play in helping our partners develop new and novel therapies to patients in need.

I look forward to the continued support of our staff as we embark on an exciting year of growth that will benefit our customers, staff and shareholders.
